My PhilosophyDoes
an animal in the woods need a specific education to teach him what to
eat? At some point in our lives, we are all introduced to real foods.
Maybe we learned about them in school, or maybe our parents fed them to
us when we were children. Somewhere along the way, Americans have
forgotten how to identify foods that are real. Many of us today can no
longer recognize what is healthy from a basic, natural, and biological
point of view. We’re badgered with new information and marketing
regarding the latest super nutrient or food product on such a regular
basis that our judgment has become clouded. It’s understandable that
this has happened. In our fast-paced and industrialized society, we are
all looking for a magic bullet to nutritional health. Getting back to
basics and simplifying our approach is where I believe the magic lies. Getting back to basics means working from a point-of-view that human beings are animals. I believe this will help us all to understand what we need to do to be healthy. As a society that has been formed by a blending of many different ethnicities and cultures, to me it’s only natural that there is no one diet that will work for everyone. Our genetics have been formed from origins that span the globe. But we’re all Americans now, human animals trying to find our way amongst the American food landscape. To achieve a state of personal wellness, we must all be on an exploratory path to find the balance of naturally occurring foods that leads each of us to that place. After spending a year planning and then running an organic meal delivery business, I came to a realization about how I want to share my knowledge of food and nutrition with others. It occurred to me that doing the work for someone wasn’t going to help anyone live his or her best life in the long run. Rather than thinking and planning for someone else, I want to teach them how to think and plan their meals for themselves. Between my explorations of different diets and my ongoing quest to stay informed about the state of nutrition in modern times, I’ve only begun to discover what healthy eating means. I continue to explore what it means for me while educating myself to learn what it may also mean for others. My back to basics approach to health, nutrition and wellness is one founded on educating others about how to best care for themselves on a daily basis. It goes back to the Chinese proverb; if you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day, but if you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime. I’d like to teach people how to fish. ![]() About Diane

I think food is the best part of life. Seriously. To me, it's an
amazing thing to be able to see it, feel it, smell it and
finally...taste it! I love to stroll the farmer's market and look at
what's available to buy that day- and see what sparks an idea of a meal
or dish. It's safe to say that if I'm not cooking or eating, I'm
thinking about what I'm going to cook or eat next!
